What If A Man Divorces His Mail Order Bride
Men from countries like USA and Canada have a high viability in the mail order bride arena. Most of these brides belong to economically weak countries who wish to come out of poverty and also support their families back home. The idea of having a good life entices the mail order brides to marry men from countries that have ample opportunities for earning. According to the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services, mail order bride marriages have a divorce rate lower than the normal marriages.

However, this does not mean that divorce is a far cry for a mail order bride. There have been several instances across the globe wherein men have abused, and abandoned their mail order brides from other countries, and also there have been circumstances leading to divorce. If the husband abuses the wife, it is easy for a mail order bride to get a divorce from the abusive partner by filing a complaint against him. The USA issues a fiancée visa, known as the K-1 visa for the overseas mail order bride. This visa is valid for 6 months and the man must marry her within that time period. If the marriage does not take place, then the girl has to return back to her country. However, if the marriage has taken place, then the couple must apply for a green card for obtaining the resident status. This is valid for 2 years and the couple must apply to get this condition removed before the completion of the time period. Now, in case of a divorce of a mail order bride, the immigrant can request the concerned authorities to eliminate the condition. The United States Citizenship and Immigration Services will review the evidence supporting the case. Evidence including letters, vacation photographs, child birth certificate, and certificates relating to mutual funds, bills, insurance policies and joint bank accounts are reviewed. Once the woman gets permanent residency status post divorce she can lead her own life freely.
